The Mayor’s Office of Special Events and the Chicago Office of Tourism are teaming up once again to present the ninth edition of the Haunted ‘L’ train this Halloween season. The City charters a train from the CTA to offer this special Halloween treat. Ghouls and ghosts can ride the train on Thursday and Friday evenings, and on Saturdays, October 19 through October 28.
The exterior of the Haunted ‘L’ train has been wrapped to look like a haunted mansion. Once on board, guests will be entertained by Quest Theatre Ensemble. Large-scale puppets from Quest Theatre Ensemble will perform stories based on the popular classic, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”
Trips on the Haunted ‘L’ are free, but guests must obtain tickets from the Chicago Cultural Center’s Visitor Information Center at 77 East Randolph before boarding. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are only offered on the current day the Haunted ‘L’ is in operation. Ticket distribution begins at 6 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and at 10 a.m. on Saturdays until all tickets have been distributed. There is a four ticket maximum per person.
Haunted ‘L’ trips begin at the Randolph/Wabash ‘L’ station and run 25 minutes.
Thursday and Friday evening trips on October 19, 20, 26 and 27 will start at 7 p.m.,

The Mayor’s Office of Special Events and the Chicago Office of Tourism are teaming up once again to present the ninth edition of the Haunted ‘L’ train this Halloween season. The City charters a train from the CTA to offer this special Halloween treat. Ghouls and ghosts can ride the train on Thursday and Friday evenings, and on Saturdays, October 19 through October 28.
The exterior of the Haunted ‘L’ train has been wrapped to look like a haunted mansion. Once on board, guests will be entertained by Quest Theatre Ensemble. Large-scale puppets from Quest Theatre Ensemble will perform stories based on the popular classic, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”
Trips on the Haunted ‘L’ are free, but guests must obtain tickets from the Chicago Cultural Center’s Visitor Information Center at 77 East Randolph before boarding. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are only offered on the current day the Haunted ‘L’ is in operation. OfficeMax is transporting the World's Largest Rubber Band Ball in early- November from the Eugene, Oregon garage of creator Steve Milton to downtown Chicago for its official November 21, 11:00 a.m. weigh-in ceremony with Guinness World Records at State Street and Jackson. Experts predict the OfficeMax-sponsored rubber band ball -- created by Milton with help from his 6-year-old son, Bryce -- will break the earlier world record of 3,120 pounds, set by John Bain of Wilmington, Del. The 26-year-old Milton, who started his ball in November 2005 with a number of small OfficeMax rubber bands, says the ball now contains 175,000 individual rubber bands. The rubber ball stands 5 1/2 feet-high and has a circumference of 19 feet.

The Chicago Botanic Garden takes a bow (wow) for 2006 with the fourth annual Reindog Parade on Saturday, December 2. For four very special hours only, dogs are allowed in the Garden.
Cleverly costumed canines march the parade route — with Santa in the lead carrying a giant candy cane baton — to celebrate the holiday season.
Reindog festivities include registration from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and judging by celebrities from noon to 1 p.m. The parade steps off at 1:15 p.m., and judges award prizes beginning at 2:15 p.m.
Other activities include a visit and photo opportunity with Santa, and demonstrations by dog experts. The "Pup Tent" features holiday gifts and refreshments for pooches and people.
The Reindog Parade is the holiday season kickoff at the Garden. You may also visit the spectacular Wonderland Express exhibit, although dogs may not join you in the Regenstein Center.
Please note that this is the ONLY day all year that you can bring your dog to the Chicago Botanic Garden.
